RIVERSIDE SWIM SCHOOL - CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Class Description Pool Size
Water Babies 1 Classes Start at 3 months.  Leisure 10
  (After child's triple injections) and work towards a range of skills to    
  the age of 3 years. Beginner level babies are from 3 months. First ever class.    
Water Babies 2 Babies have had pool experince and are comfortable to be submerged Leisure 10
  under water    
Water Babies 3 Babies are comfortable to be submerged.  Leisure 10
  ready to follow instructions. (2 - 2.5 yrs)    
P + T A variety of fun and games with a formal lesson. Children are 2.5 - 3.5 yrs Leisure 6
  and able to follow instructions. Use of buoyancy aids to help achieve child's    
  individual potential.    
Non-Swimmers 3 - 4.5 yrs with floats. Nervous children who are using swimming aids. Class Leisure 4
  aims to build confidence and water awarness in preparation for Beginners class.    
Beginners Children must be water confident, try and swim without aids and to be happy to  Leisure 4
  put their face into the water. Aim to achieve 5m by the end of the term.    
Beginners 1 Child must be able to swim 5m on front and back. Class aims to start to Leisure 6
  introduce technique for correct strokes and breathing in back - stroke,     
  breaststroke and frontcrawl as well as other water based skills.    
Beginners 2 Class aims to develop stroke technique in frontcrawl, backstroke and breast- Leisure 6
  stroke as well as develop other water skills. Must be able to show out of water    
  recovery of arms for back and front crawl.Must be able to swim 10m on front    
  and back.    
Beginners 3 Confident at frontcrawl, breaststroke and backstroke. Class is aimed at  Training 8
  improving stamina and stroke development. Must be able to swim 25m.    
Improvers 1 Able to swim 50m comfortably front and back. Technique in three major strokes Leisure 8
  to fair standard. Confident in deep water. Class aims to develop stamina and    
  understanding of th three main strokes.    
Improvers 2 Good, developed, stroke co-ordination in three main strokes. Able to swim  Training 8
  200m using one designated stroke. Class will introduce dolphin kick, butterfly.    
Improvers 3 Competent and strong in three main strokes and basic understanding of Training 8
  butterfly. Development of butterfly to include arms. Introduction of interval    
  training to improve stamina.    
Pre - Squad Competent in all four strokes, junior swimmers looking to develop competitive  Training 8
  swimming. Able to swim 800m using one designated stroke.    
  Introduction to timed swims and competitive swim techniques in line with ASA.    
Squad Development of competitive swimming. Must be able to swim 1000m, must be  Training 8
  able to swim 50m butterfly. Interval training to improve swim fitness and timed    
  swims, races and relays at the end of each session.    
Senior Squad 12+ For children 12yrs+ must be able to swim 1500m in any one stroke and 100m Training 12
  butterfly. Children will be preferably school/club borough swimmers who are    
  looking to continue developand maintain fitness.    
Junior Swim Clinic Clinic is aimed at providing stroke analysis and quality tuition for children who Training 10
  may not be competitive swimmers but wish to continue to benefit from stroke    
  improvement and stamina work. Must be able to swim 600m in any one stroke.    
  Swim clinics are also ideal for cross training purposes for children who are     
  participating or competing in other sports.    
Senior Swim Clinic As above. Must be able to swim 1000m in any one stroke. Training 10
Competitive This session is invite only. Swimmers will be selected and invited to attend with Training 12
Club Night  a view to create a swim team to represent the club and take part in internal    
  galas.    
Adult Beginners This class is for adults who are complete beginners and have not been able to Training 6
  swim before. Class aims to improve water confidence and teach participant to    
  swim.    
Adult Improvers Adults looking to improve and develop the three main strokes. Training 6
Adult Swimfit This Class is for adults who are looking to use a training pool session to keep Training 12
  fit or to cross train with another sport. Swimmers will perform interval training    
  and timed swims as well as stroke drills.    
Adult Triathlon Club Session for 12yrs+ currently training or looking to participate in a triathlon event Training 12
  such as the Windsor Triathlon.
